Efficient Hybrid Algorithm Solution for Optimal Reactive Power Flow Using the Sensitive Bus Approach

This paper presents the design and application of an efficient hybrid algorithm for solving Optimal Reactive Power Flow (ORPF) problem. The ORPF is formulated as a nonlinear constrained optimization problem where active power losses must be minimized. proposed approach based on hybridization Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Tabu-Search (TS) technique. PSO-TS used to find settings control variables (i.e. generation bus voltages, transformer taps, shunt capacitor sizes) which minimize transmission losses. locations capacitors are identified according sensitive buses. To show effectiveness method, it applied IEEE 30 benchmark test system compared with PSO TS without hybridization, along some other published approaches. obtained results reveal method in dealing highly nature
